Journey with me in my writings
Musings, Tea time, and Romance...
… are just some of the topics you can read about with Sandy Kelly-Bexon’s books
I most definitely found my love of reading and writing growing up the youngest of a large family in Calgary. At any given time, you could walk into the living room of our home to find at least one person curled up with their nose deep in a book. I began closet writing at a very young age and entered my first fiction contest at the insightful age of 11. I still have the long-yellowed copy of that little manuscript and, although it is horribly written, it is certainly a glimpse into what would become an incredibly rewarding career.
I studied journalism and began my writing career as a reporter over 35 years ago, having spent the last half of my career in public relations. Now that I’m retired, I should have lots of free time to spend on my latest piece of fiction – right?! Ah, hopefully that will come later! Right now, I’m either reading, doing yoga, or hanging out with my daughter and our dogs, cats and other assorted rescue animals. Or working on my retirement blog!

Moon Dance
When Olivia Montgomery arrives to a remote Thai village to help victims of the recent tsunami, she doesn’t expect to be swept up in a tumultuous romantic wave of her own. She wants to use her skills to help the villagers because it appeals to her calling as a nurse, but her three-month volunteer project is complicated by the presence of Dr. Austin Phillips.
Up the Creek Without a Saddle
Lily thought she was all by herself when she gave in to a temper tantrum in the middle of a field near Bandit Creek, Montana. But she discovered an insanely handsome man watching her, and she found herself lying without ever intending to. Now this kind man believed she was poor and in need of help, when in reality she could purchase the entire town of Bandit Creek. She realized her family’s great fortune came at a cost to farm families just like his, and she began creating an entire fabrication so that he wouldn’t discover she was actually his enemy.

YYC POP: Poetic Portraits of People.
If a city is characterized by the people who live there, as Calgary transforms, it is important to acknowledge who we are as we grow and change.
With this idea in mind, we asked the community to write about someone who represents or captures the essence of Calgary as we are today. Learn about the city by the poetic portraits of the people!
